Fatima

Fatima is a story of a young girl in Central Asia who, just before graduating from high school, is kidnapped. Her kidnapper is actually someone she knows that wants to marry her. This book highlights a very real problem that hopefully doesn't happen much but did happen often: wife kidnapping. It's when a man kidnaps a lady in order to marry her. In some countries in Central Asia the lady and the man who kidnapped her were actually dating but didn't have money for a big wedding so they eloped instead by kidnapping. In some cases the man liked the woman but didn't have money that the lady's family wanted him to have before they got married so he kidnapped her instead. Sometimes these stories had a happy ending and sometimes they didn't.
