In the late twentieth century, when he was an innocent suburban kid in the Pacific Northwest and the high point of his life had been watching Speed Racer cartoons every week-day at three pm, Zachary Taylor had no way of knowing that at thirty-six he'd be an unemployed ex-convict, stepping off the plane in Mexico City, standing at the curb in front of the airport, squinting into an uncertain future south of the border.
