This is a volume of “modern” scripture written by two ancient civilizations that were once in the Americas. Both civilizations had prophets sent by God to teach them and write this sacred record. Both civilizations rebelled against God, fell into conflict, and were destroyed by internal violence. All that was left behind was this record, which was first published in 1830, over a thousand years after the final destruction of the earlier nations. It was first introduced in the poetic and archaic language of the King James Bible as the Book of Mormon. It has been preserved by the Lord to now make it accessible, clear, and as succinct as possible in clear modern English, independent of any religious institution. As the end approached, two prophets summarized the lessons of these two earlier civilizations to warn and guide people who would live in the last days. They tailored those lessons to address our day, our problems, and our weaknesses. Two prior destroyed civilizations have left us a record to help us avoid our destruction. This is that record. It describes us. It warns us. It can guide us so that we escape the ruin this land has seen twice before. The prophets who wrote this book not only want to rescue us from self-destruction, but also to lead us back to faith in God. It offers hope for this life and for the afterlife. It is a message from God to you.
