Sparkling Stars is a great example of an anthology series that had something for everyone. There were plenty of sports stories with Boxie Weaver handling boxing and Speed Spaulding playing everything from football to crew. There is military humor with Private Plopp and thrilling World War Two tales with the Hell’s Angels, art by a young Carmine Infantino. There are funny animal stories and humor fantasy stories with Ali Baba. Add various exploits of private detective and the F.B.I. and Sparkling Stars provides a potpourri of entertainment. Sparkling Stars was published by Holyoke Press starting in June of 1944 All books in this series are available in both color and black & white as well as in hardcover and soft cover editions.
