FANTOMAH – MYSTERY WOMAN OF THE JUNGLE is historic, because she was the first female super-hero in comics, pre-dating even Wonder Woman! She was originally conceived by Fletcher Hanks and debuted in JUNGLE COMICS #2. There were ultimately two very-different incarnations of FANTOMAH – in later issues she was “Daughter of Pharoahs” and had quite a different back story. But whether mystery woman or Egyptian royalty, she was a mainstay of Jungle Comics through issue #51 – and this is a complete collection of all her stories! This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents.
