During 1951 and 1952, Ziff-Davis unleashed seventeen one-shot wonders. Four of them were “kiddie books”, with titles like Christmas Carnival, Kiddie Karnival and Santa Claus Parade. Out of the other thirteen titles, one of the comics, HE-MAN #1, was reprinted in Tops in Adventure #1, so technically there were twelve different books of content. These one-shot wonders covered the spectrum of diverse comic book genres and were excellent. The talent assembled for these titles was top-notch. Painted covers by Norman Saunders and interiors by John Prentice, Tex Blaisdell, Ray Willner, Ralph Mayo, Raymond Everett Kinstler, Bob Powell, Howard Nostrand, George Olesen, Edd Ashe and many, many more grace the pages of the various books. All twelve of those comics are collected here in one massive volume: CAPTAIN FLEET #1, CLOAK & DAGGER #1, DEARLY BELOVED #1, DOLLY #10, EERIE ADVENTURES #1, HOT ROD KINGS #1, SPEED SMITH #1, THE TOODLES #10, TOPS IN ADVENTURE 1, WEIRD ADVENTURES #10, WOMEN IN LOVE #1 and THE YARDBIRDS #1.
