In this little-known work published in 1930, author R.H. Romans takes on cosmic themes ranging from the origin of the earth itself to the origins of the different races of humanity (Romans' great goal was to show the fundamental error in the presumption of racial superiority). In the process he created one of the first great female protagonists of SF---the beautiful genius, Dorothy Brewster---as well as one of the first-ever suggestions that an electromagnetic gun might be used to accelerate spacecraft. Illustrated by Frank R. Paul.
