Elder Rhoda Ungalaq not only teaches us how giving birth calmly and breastfeeding used to be normal for Inuit mothers, she also teaches us love and hope.
She teaches us the “art of babyfeeding”: holding a baby calmly and listening to their breath, smiling at them as they sleep, feeling the warmth of two bodies in synchronicity, taking the time to enjoy this precious experience, and breathing fresh air to keep the new mother rested and happy.
Babyfeeding, or breastfeeding can be, for a new mom, a way of life.
