I’m sure most of you are sick of hearing about Gaydon now, but I’m going to ignore that and hope you’ve all forgotten by the next time we meet face-to-face. Marc and I had a great time, although as usual we didn’t get to see much of the Festival that was more than a short distance away from our table. So yes, the forthcoming Scaleautos, Policars and Thunderslots look very good indeed! The drag racing was spectacular, especially when they came past our table at speeds approaching Mach 2. We were very excited to be interviewed by Pete Brown of YouTube’s excellent Track Fans TV. It took me a while to pluck up the courage to watch it; I have to say Pete did an excellent job, but it’s always something of a shock to see what you’re really like. Oh well, too late to change now! I also have to mention Cuthbert, who had come all the way from New York. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with him. In fact we did an immense amount of chatting to people, both fellow stallholders and the members of the public who make it all worthwhile. Thank you all for taking the time to come over and see us and thank you to the organisers for doing the organising so well. So that’s it for another year, apart from some of the articles in this issue. There is so much promised for the coming months, it would be wonderful to report that it’ll be ‘full steam ahead’ from now on, but there’s a financial crisis and the latest Covid wave to negotiate – in the UK at least – before we can burst from the clouds of despair into the blue skies of boundless optimism. (Sorry, not sure where that came from…) Until then, we’ll keep on keeping on.
