Slot Car Magazine – JULY 2023, issue 74

Here we are again, our recovery from Gaydon is almost complete, thanks to the care and attention from some of the finest medical specialists in the land. We had a great show, a sentiment that seems to be common amongst the other stallholders and exhibitors. As always, our thanks to everyone involved with the show for making it another excellent event. It was great to meet so many of our old friends and to make some new ones too – and I must give a special mention to Norm from Melbourne, Australia, who is a colleague of Tony Di Pastena. It was great to meet you, Norm, so Tony isn’t the only one with a mention in the mag this time! As usual, I spent the journey to Gaydon convincing myself that I didn’t need to buy anything and I was being very successful until I noticed the NSR Can-Am RC Cola Porsche box set just a few paces from our stand, at a great price too. Still looking über cool despite the usual appalling NSR drivers, it sat there, beckoning me in like a siren on the rocks, until by Sunday afternoon I could resist no more. Emotionally drained, I bought it. Oh well. Of the forthcoming cars on show, the ones that caught my eye (and I wasn’t alone here) were the Porsche, Peugeot and BMW Hypercars from Scaleauto. These will be very big sellers, I am sure of it and Scaleauto must have put a massive effort into bringing these out so quickly. Maybe that explains why things have gone a bit quiet regarding the replacement Fly chassis… Following the wonderful Ferrari victory at Le Mans, I wonder if they will be venturing into the litigation minefield to bring us that one? In the meantime, the Porsche 963 white kit should be with us shortly. So here we are, back into the swing. Slot.it has just announced a carbon fibre motor pod, Pendle are bringing out a 3D printed car and we’ve just done another paper magazine. Enjoy!
