Summer is here, or “Winter” as it’s known in Australia, while the weather is much the same in both places. That was another cracking Gaydon we had, selling a few mags, catching up with old friends and, I hope, even making some new ones. Of course it was great to finally meet our long-time contributor Tony Di Pastena, with everyone behaving impeccably so he thought we are always that polite to each other. Our thanks as always to the organisers for all of their hard work in putting another excellent event together. The future of the hobby is an almost constant subject for discussion amongst the old die-hards these days, and given the fact that the conclusions often reached are as negative as you can get without actually shedding tears, it was something of a surprise to find in this issue three articles highlighting youthful participation, all from different parts of the World. Regular readers will know that these things are always random, we don’t have the organisational ability to put together a “Future Of Slotting Special” or anything like that, so perhaps there is hope after all, particularly if the educational angle can be seized upon. Finally, just a quick word about our friends and contributors Andy Player and Graham Pritchard, both of whom have been in hospital recently. Here’s wishing both of you a speedy recovery and return to happy normality.
