Slot Car Magazine – MAY 25, issue 85

Hands up who spotted the error on the SCX Fiat 131 in the last issue! It was SCX’s error, not ours (phew!), but nobody at the magazine spotted it until after we went to print. Then, I hardly need tell you, it was author Hub who broke the news. The car has a different registration plate on the front from the one on the back… Hub pointed out that the rear plate (P14398) is correct, the front (P14393) is not. If you were eagle-eyed enough to spot that, I’m sorry there isn’t a prize, but give yourself a hearty pat on the back. Better still, I’m sure somebody will do it for you if you tell them what you’ve done. Of course, these typos and errors do pop up from time to time and it might be fun to make a list of some of the great howlers one day. I’m always reminded by the experience of my poor colleague, who, having carefully put together a model of a favourite driver’s F1 car, found to his dismay that the best-left-nameless decal supplier had printed the driver’s name as “Giles Villeneuve”…’Oh my goodness, that looks a bit blooming obvious on the Ferrari’s cockpit sides!’ exclaimed Marc – or something along those lines. Let’s just say that further orders to said supplier are always accompanied by a certain degree of trepidation. Hooray! It’s Gaydon again, the warmer version this time, though nothing is guaranteed these days. We get to try out another hotel, having been kept awake half the night by Eurovision revellers at last year’s effort. No wonder it was so cheap! As ever, please pop over to our area and say hello.
