We raise an interesting question in a review of the Ferrari 126CK in this issue. How much detail is enough? How much is too much? If you go back ten or fifteen years, you pretty much had the choice of plain-yet-sturdy cars that would go fast, or detailed cars that a) could hardly get out of their own way and b) were so expensive that you wouldn’t dare race them anyway. Inevitably, the latter spent their days on a shelf and are probably still there now. Now we have this middle ground of highly-detailed cars that can perform well. While this would seem to be the ideal place to be, I’m not entirely sure. Adding detail parts to a car costs us money, not only in the parts themselves, but also because they increase the time it takes to put the car together at the factory...
