Welcome to the September issue. Yes, another disappointing UK Summer pours and blows to a close (I’m writing this in August, but given the trend so far, I’m willing to risk such a statement) and we realise that the Gaydon Winter Market is a mere two-and-a-half months away – which is the only thing I look forward to in December!
We have had an unusually high number of products sent to us for review this time. These are always of course much appreciated, but we are aware that they can leave us open to murmuring that we’ve only given something a good review because we were sent a free one. Ironically, these flames are fanned by the fact that we seem to be living in a golden age as far as product quality goes and the cars we have been sent are actually very good! I do want to use this platform to say that all the writers here are well aware that our responsibility is first and foremost to our readers and we will “tell it like it is” regardless of whether we were sent a product or we bought it with our own money – which we do in the vast majority of cases. I also have to say that we have never, ever, been put under any pressure to give a good review by any manufacturer. There’s no point in us doing any of this if we don’t tell the truth, so that’s what we’ll do.
Well, that was all a bit serious! A crazy mixed-up bag of goodies this month, including a long overdue look at Minic and my esteemed colleague gets away with building a red Connaught! I’ll not detain you any longer…
