Slot Car Magazine – JANAURY 2023, issue 71

ByRic WoodsRic Woods

Here we are again, setting out on another new year which, if my new calendar is correct, should be 2023. What will it bring? Lots more brilliant slot cars to play with, that’s for sure. 2022 turned out to be a good one for new releases, as the industry got back into the swing post-COVID and that trend seems set to continue. I’m already very excited – perhaps too excited for someone of my age – by the prospect of a TTS 1/24th Alpine A110, of the Thunderslot Can-Am Ferrari, of the Scaleauto/Fly tie-up coming to fruition and of my Sideways Le Mans Astons finally turning up. There will much rejoicing when that happens. Then there’s BRM 1/24th Capris, SRC BMWs and lots of others I’ll remember just after this goes to press… Meanwhile, back in 2022, Gaydon went well for us. We sold some mags, had lots of good chats and plenty of laughs. Thanks to everyone who came to see us and thanks for being so polite, always a relief. This month we see the debut of our latest contributor, Jorge Reynoso. Jorge is from Argentina and is a key figure in the slot scene there. There’s an interview with him in this issue, from which I think we’ll all learn something together! The ‘International’ side of this magazine is something that really gives me a buzz, so it’s great to have Jorge along. Finally, as I write, one of longest-serving contributors, Andy Player, is in hospital. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing Andy the speediest of recoveries. Bring on 2023!
