A History of Lawrence, Kansas From the Earliest Settlement to the Close of the Rebellion

This publication presents a thorough history of Lawrence, Kansas, from the time of its first settlement through the close of the Civil War. The author, who arrived in Kansas in 1857, served as the Pastor of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence from 1857 to 1875 and from 1884 to 1895. He was also an eyewitness to the devastating Quantrill Raid, in which numerous Lawrence residents were slaughtered.
