This book is a compilation of very old photographs from three photograph albums. An effort was made to preserve the context of the photographs. The photographs in the first chapter come from a Victorian remembrance book made by my great grandmother, Mary Barbara Cook Neff Wagner. Her ancestors had all come from the same small kingdom in central Germany, Württemberg, between 1804 and 1815 to central Pennsylvania and then followed the migrating frontier to Crawford County, Ohio. Photos in the second and third chapters come from scrapbooks made by her daughter, Elva, and grandson, Everett Douce, documenting important life events. Several unattached photographs of extended family are included in an appendix. It is my hope that seeing the face of an ancestor will add personality to the vital statistics of our family history.
