Itsapa: the Itza Mayas in North America

This book has changed history. The international premier of "American Unearthed" on December 21, 2012 proved several of its theories. The Track Rock Terrace Complex is one of the remarkable archaeological discoveries in North America. Around 1000 AD Native Americans built a massive terrace farming complex that rose 700 feet up the steep slopes of a Georgia Mountain. The site covers a half square mile and includes at least 160 masonry retaining walls, plus the stone ruins of buildings, effigy animals and hydrological structures. Also on the site is a dormant volcano fumarole. The Mayas considered such geological features as windows to the deities and afterlife.
