The Third Door

Matt Harper's latest mystery involves corn, ethanol and a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. Helping Matt solve them are his ex-partner, Detective Darren J. Holmes, Detective Wiliam 'Boris' Becker, and Boris's friend, Gavin Graham, who works for an ad agency. Gavin's suspicions about his employer's death in a corn silo seem unwarranted, but they gain credence and relevance as obvious murders follow. Matt digs deeper into the case, getting help from FBI agent Jon Swearingen and from an unexpected source: a Southern scoundrel who scammed the federal government out of millions of dollars fifty years ago. The clueless president of the ethanol company, his voluptuous P.R. director, and threats from a Mexican drug cartel and a Chicago mob, add extra intrigue as Matt tries to solve the meaning of The Third Door.
