A Child's Eyes: Growing Up Poor and Black in the 1940's and 1950's

A short book about the first 13 or so years of the author's life as he grew up in the segregated Deep South in the 1940's and 1950's. Some of the stories jump forward to later periods of his life, however, this is done so the narrative can be more meaningful. In any case, he relates short stories about many of the experiences that served to form his character; indeed his life.
