Robert Louis Stevenson was a British writer, poet, essayist and novelist of the Victorian era, who wrote novels, books of short stories, poems and travels, as well as publications on various topics. He was a prolific author of at least forty-six literary works, being widely known for his greatest successes: Treasure Island (1881-1882), The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886), and The Black Arrow (1888), among others. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is one of his masterpieces, invoking the latent conflict between good and evil and how it affects human beings. Likewise, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde form a strange couple that remains in the memories of contemporary culture, evoking multiple personality disorder or dissociative identity disorder, in which several personalities can coexist in an individual, while one manifests, each time.
