This book identifies the things that organisations should and should not to do if they wish to succeed with large IT projects. It identifies the changes needed in the structure, culture and practices of organisations to enable them to do the right things. It identifies the competencies needed for successful projects and where senior management must focus its attention. It is not a ‘project management by numbers’ manual but rather a guide by which senior management can start to ensure that they and their organisations are in good enough shape to undertake major IT projects with some confidence of success.
