The Morgans arrived in San Antonio at the start of the Mexican-American War. Luke, an accomplished gunsmith, personally trained by Sam Colt to service his new revolvers, was there at the request of Captain Sam Walker of the Texas Rangers. Joining the Rangers in Mexico, he started a career, which took him from Texas Ranger to U. S. Marshall to Federal Judge.
Young Matt Morgan had headed east to study law, but a summer job with a gunsmith friend of his father reunited him with family friend Sam Colt and he wound up working for Colt testing completed revolvers. Three years of drawing and test firing guns daily honed Matt’s skills so sharply that no one could match his draw.
His law practice now forgotten, Marshal Matt Morgan finds himself winding through Arizona on the way to duel the legendary hired gun Yale Zander.
But will that end Matt’s journeys? And who is this peculiar little man who dogs Matt’s trail?
Who is the Easterner?
