The Redistribution of Income

One of the most prevalent characteristics of modern democracies in the developed world is the ability of the government to use the power of taxation to redistribute income among different sectors of the population. This power of the government greatly limits individual freedom because it allows the state to confiscate and redistribute wealth, but also has important ethical, economic, social and political implications. In this essay, those aspects will be briefly discussed and analyzed.
