A man who can't remember. A woman who wants to forget.
What are they to do when they meet?
The novel’s primary theme is Australian identity in the early colonial period (1790-1820). My reason for writing a work of fiction set in this period is because it resonates with issues in modern times. The central themes are whether humankind should master the natural world or adapt to it and the extent to which conscience can hope to restrain human nature.
On this journey into Australia's interior we explore the rationales for punishment, how people of compromised backgrounds redeem themselves and the various meanings of charity.
