An integral part of Infection Control Programme is good hospital hygiene. Surveillance which is the act of infection investigation using the CDC definitions provides data about the factors contributing to infection. HAI (Hospital acquired infection) are an important cause of morbidity and mortality which constitutes 10% of all hospital admissions worldwide. This has made even more imperative need for infection control in hospitals and nursing homes.[31]
Important Hospital acquired infection includes CAUTI (Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection), CLABSI (Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infection), VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia) and SSI (Surgical Site Infection).
