"ORISHA SONGS FOR CELINA" is a unique collection of new poetry by this acclaimed Caribbean poet.
He celebrates the life of his Great, Great Grand Mother: Celina Lockhart.(circa 1800s)
Born in colonial Trinidad during slavery, she was a devotee of the Orisha religion of the Yoruba peoples.
Celina was a leading member at the historically famed RADA Yard community in Belmont,Port of Spain.
Interestingly this community spawned influences for the modern day Steel band, Carnival, Calypso and Soca Music for which Trinidad is now renowned.
