Madison and Hamilton "Why a Bill of Rights?` ~Serious Comedy Play"

ByRonald Noonan

A 10 minute one act play requiring only two performers which can be expanded to many acts with many performers, including a music chior. Madison and Hamilton discuss how to protect the new constitution from being misinterpreted and to protect the rights of the citizens of the USA. The play begins with Madison reasoning as to why there was a revolution and ways to prevent it from happening again. He proposes the first amendment which he believes is the most important protection of the rights of the citizens to protect the constitution. At first, Hamilton feels that the constitution is clear enough without any additional alterations, but eventually comes around. His objections as to how a tyrant government could circumvent Maidsons protection of the constitution and the citizens rights, stimulate additional amendments by Madison, which are ALL designed to protect the first amendment! This is a clear way of explaining the who, what, where, when and why of the "Bill OF Rights"
