"Welcome to Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse Annie Davidson, the Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter eh?" He turned presenting the baby to the midwife. "There you are Nan, tied like a wee haggis. Take her away and make her presentable before she meets her parents. My, my, William you're awful pale man." Doctor McKelvie washed his hands returning to the bedside as he dried them. "And how's my Gracie?" He glanced over the top of steamed-up spectacles. "Fine doctor," she forced a weak smile. "I'm sorry to be so long this time. How's the baby? Is everything perfect?" "Aye the baby's grand. Do you not hear her bawling her lungs out? If it had been a boy I'd have said he was practicing for the pulpit eh?"
