We come into our adult lives with a ladder under our arms. We spend years trying to climb it to reach what we have been told to reach, what we once planned to reach, or what we finally wish to reach with all our hearts. And so, many times, you almost get to the end of your life and review that you have been pursuing, climbing up the ladder, putting your best effort, rung by rung, learning skills, developing abilities, dedicating time and energy to climb that ladder to reach the greater goal. But, when you finally get to the top, to the last step, where you expect to see everything, where you expect to feel fulfilled, you discover that it is not so; that you do not feel fulfilled; that, despite everything you have done and developed through your ladder, you still do not feel happy, you do not feel aligned with your purpose. And then, with sadness, you think that the ladder has not worked, that you have wasted time, money, energy, and effort because that ladder did not take you where you wanted to be; you are not in front of the landscape you expected to see at the top. But, when you lower your eyes and look inside, inside yourself, you discover that the problem was not the ladder but the fact that you have been leaning on the wrong building. Find your true building and then lean your ladder there because you are your ladder, wonderful, amazing, unique, talented; just don't climb the wrong building.
