Our Other Friends

Dear reader, have you ever wondered where our electronic friends come from? Slowly we lose touch with what is important – with people and with nature. We don’t spend time with others as we used to, more we alienate ourselves. That is where ‘‘they’’ step in: the TV set, computer, mobile phone, who lure us with their looks and various virtual worlds which we enter and habituate longer and longer day after day. We forget about the real world that surrounds us! The time comes, it seems, for these innocent little players responsible for nothing as they are merely things we use. This is the kind of time we live in, and there is nothing we can do about it… Or is there? We can spend more time with others in the real world, can’t we? It all depends on us. We know things don’t have feelings. But what they do have is a past, a present, and a future. What kind of future? That remains to be seen. These friends will tell us something about not only themselves, but about us as well.
