Photo-induced Charge Generation and Recombination in Conjugated Polymer & Methanofullerene Blend Films

(Hardback) A doctoral thesis based upon research on blend films of conjugated polymer and fullerene derivative used in making organic solar cells. The photophysics of materials commonly used are discussed along with suggestions on which material properties are most important for maximising charge generation at the donor-acceptor interface. The use of transient absorption spectroscopy as a powerful tool in examining the potential of new materials as components in organic solar cells is highlighted.
