"Book of Joe" is a lighthearted comedy about a man trying to survive a year of hard times. It is a modern day version of the Bible character, Job, and his lifetime of trials. In this story, God has to prove to Satan again that man is good and can withstand trouble and pain without escaping to Satan's ways. Our main character, Joe, is the "lucky" chosen. Joe is a good man and has a good life but isn't happy because he always wants more. Joe must endure one year of his life crumbling bit by bit. He, of course, is oblivious to the reasons why he is having such a run of bad luck. One can identify with Joe through his journey to make sense of his challenges though humorous and heroic efforts.
