The Balance of Vengeance and Honour

In the wake of Hannibal's campaigns in Italy and the death of Scipio Africanus, General Flavius Julius and his son Lucius are called upon to fight the brooding Gauls in North Italy. However, it is Flavius' devout servant, Marcus Germanus, who is thrust into the limelight. Merely an aide to the Roman leader, he proves himself in the field fighting in Cisalpine Gaul and Sicilia. But fate has far darker things in mind for Marcus and his Roman masters.
