In this book (which the reader may not find any of the same touch and taste), Sampson Nkwetatang pays priceless tribute to African oral tradition in antiquity. Incantations began in Egypt during the ancient civilisations between 4000BC and 1000BC. Egyptians communicated with their gods with the use of incantations, and strongly believed that they were the language best understood by the dead. Consequently, incantations (by virtue of their origin) are not an ordinary exercise. Owing to their continuously evoking and commanding tone, they carry the reader to a state of marvel and awe.
The author does not only limit incantations within the scope of communication between the living and the dead but he artistically uses them as a very effective arm in presenting problems, in soliciting solutions to them, in expressing anxiety, in overcoming depression and in building up determination to face whatever situation at hand.
