Beauty is a subject too often dismissed as merely a matter of opinion. This book asserts that, on a Christian view, this cannot be the case. A thoughtful discussion, as between friends, this short book proposes a definition of beauty that appeals to a Christian understanding of God. It further proposes a Narrative Evaluative Model that provides a common source of descriptive language, a mutually acknowledged standard, and a robust evaluative framework for discussing beauty in the creative arts. Employing this model will ensure that, when discussing, defending, or questioning the beauty of a work of art, the participants will have "something real to argue about" (Ch. 11).
