Aristide Torchia, MDCLXVI
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The movie, The Ninth Gate (1999; directed by Roman Polanski) featured many stars; Jonny Depp played Dean Corso and Frank Langella played Boris Balkan. However, the center piece of the film was the book(s) that Corso gathered up for their engravings.
The Compendium of the Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows incorporates all 18 engravings from the books: 9 by LCF and 9 by AT. This uses the real VIIII engraving by LCF; not the faux version that Boris Balkan had in his book. You do not need to travel across the globe searching for the engravings, looking for Dean Corso's Ninth Gate, when you can have them all in one place.
The Compendium features:
* 392 pages, hardbound edition, in 17th century English.
* Each page is sequentially numbered with characteristic paper.
* 9 engravings by LCF; including the real VIIII engraving.
* 9 engravings by AT; in a side-by-side layout with the LCF versions which makes comparisons easy.
* No text on the back of the engravings, so you can cut them out without losing the text.
* Unique flourishes at the end of each section with stylized text.
* Dean Corso's table from his notebook.
* A summary of each engraving and what features to look for.
* Quotations from Boris Balkan and others.
* 12 chapters: The original 9 chapters plus 3 bonus chapters.
* A brief biographical sketch of Aristide Torchia.
* Drop woodblock capitals at the start of each chapter.
* Faux flecked white-paint to represent almost 4 centuries of age.
