Can increased productivity through employee & environment development provide a sustainable competitive advantage for western Multi National Companies?

The intention of this thesis is to explore the growing corporate interest and opportunity to gain strategic advantage via the increase of employee Productivity, and consider if and how this might be possible. As productivity is heavily related to motivation and behavior, this thesis also explores several relevant psychological elements. This paper also researches and discusses some of the methods available to Companies wishing to improve employee productivity and highlights clear threats and issues which research suggests is currently not being addressed.
