These are 170 poems I wrote while attending Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California. They were written in my second semester and throughout the summer leading to my third semester. These... More > poems deal with a wide variety of topics. After being a faithful husband, father and music teacher for 10 years, I was beginning to adjust to single life. Using Twitter and writing constantly, I fasted and concerned myself with local, national and world affairs. Pursuing journalism and creative writing, I analyzed everything and became introspective about many meaningful issues. Raised a Christian, I considered matters of faith, spirituality, religion, the Bible and prophecy. Although I wasn’t attending church, I thought about the things I was taught and how they applied to me, the world and the future. Eliot probably worked on what was to become The Waste Land for several years preceding its first publication in 1922. In a letter to New York lawyer and patron of modernism John Quinn dated 9 May 1921, Eliot wrote that he had "a long poem in mind and partly on paper which I am wishful to finish."< Less
