The Crooked Poet

BySeyi Stephen

In a world where simplicity is the expected norm and anything complicated is feared, there is the need to address every consequence of human’s complexity in psychology and interaction. The short novel, The Crooked Poet gave an insight into the life of Jayzel with dissociative identity disorder (DID), as well as his plans to get people to know how he suffered abuse at early stage. What he didn’t plan for was the evil manifestation, Brack among other manifestations that totally had another plans and forcefully took charge of his body, mind, and soul in their beasty nature. Jayzel and his other personalities kidnapped young girls from Cromsby Hills and hid them far away from the community. The therapist was suspicious of the change in Jayzel’s personality as she feared a dangerous personality might have been released. The victims were lured with poems and notes delivered to a rendezvous point as Jayzel disguised himself as a secret admirer. The suspense, chase, personalities and the quest to bring Brack’s plan into reality as well as Rebecca escaping from the deadly prison all makes the novel a thrilling one to read.
