Together and Apart: The Future of Jewish Peoplehood

The iEngage Project began as an educational initiative to re-imagine the relationship between Israel and World Jewry. We have never shied away from hard questions and difficult issues, but none may be as challenging as the one we have posed for this series. “Together and Apart: The Future of Jewish Peoplehood” sets out to explore what may be one of the most pressing issues facing the Jewish world today - our contemporary story of who we are. We will try to understand the complex features of Jewish peoplehood that are inherent in our tradition and in our history. We will look at the forces profoundly challenging that sense of peoplehood today and how they may be addressed. And we will begin to imagine what kinds of ideas and conceptual frameworks could help sustain and grow a Jewish peoplehood story for a people that has transformed itself from a reality of no home to a reality of two homes.
