The biblical-themed title of the book “Suffer Little Children to Come Unto Me…” [Matthew 19:14] is based on the premise of “Motherlessness” with regards to Queen Indiana, who lost two children and realized that conception would be problematic. Over the years, she has been called derogatory and insensitive: Mule, old maid, prude, and ice-maiden, but she did not own them because the Lord, in his infinite wisdom, would find a way to relieve her Motherlessness. Upon her marriage to King Jackie at age 30, she underwent a bout of free but unsuccessful Invitro Fertilization (IVF), which is the topic of controversy in America today. Since then, she has pondered the fate of her frozen eggs left in the U.K. and wonders if she can still bear children of her own. Since that is not her reality, God showed her that he blessed her with “countless” children to captivate her life.
In Book 4, Indiana, with her sister, Sharon, from another mother, dotes on approximately 155 children derived from the family members in their clan. Each member, mostly children when we met them is honored with at least one picture, and where no picture was unearthed, a genderized child-substitute was inserted. Some of the children they interact with in person, some have moved away, or they have lost touch, are communicated vicariously through other family members, friends, or social media.
The book ends with a call to action that one must not wait until a family member, a friend, or a colleague passes on before recognizing their earthly talents and giving them their overdue flowers.
