This book traces the Mississippi ancestors of Dora Marie (Anderson) Reed through the Choctaw Folsoms, Choctaw Andersons, and Chickasaw Show-mah-chi-che. Her Choctaw Anderson lineage has been clearly documented through the Choctaw Nation website and is from Daniel Anderson, Sr. and Michou “Jenny” Genevieve “Jincy” (Battiest) Anderson, to Daniel Anderson, Jr. and Ihlepa or Liza, and to her father, Andel Anderson. Her Chickasaw lineage is very easy to follow, thanks to the thorough documentation of the 1889 Chickasaw Incompetent Fund Cases: Evidence in the case of Show-mah-chi-che --- No.142 [Source: Oklahoma Historical Society microfilm CKN #3]. Her Chickasaw lineage is from Show-mah-chi-che to Paleya LeFlore to Jenny (LeFlore) Folsom to her mother, Rhoda (Folsom) Anderson Bowen. Her Choctaw Folsom lineage is believed to be from Nathaniel Folsom and Ai-Ne-Chi-Hoyo, to Rev. John B. Folsom & the daughter of Nashoba, to Jack and Nelly Folsom, to Thomas and Jenny (LeFlore) Folsom, and to her mother, Rhoda (Folsom) Anderson Bowen. I know for sure that Dora's grandparents were Thomas and Jenny (LeFlore) Folsom, and the line from Jack Folsom to Rev. John B. Folsom to Nathaniel Folsom is featured on several genealogical websites. Much has been written and published about the well-known Choctaw Folsoms, including a 1981 OSU thesis on Chief David Folsom (our great uncle). A 2023 dissertation from Liberty University has also been written on Choctaw Hymnody and the influence of the Choctaw Folsoms in “The Historical and Modern Significance of the Choctaw Hymnody.”
