Originally published in 1996 and reprinted in this edition. The book describes the descendants of Dr. Michael Vincent, a veterinarian, born ca 1785 in Columbia County, New York. He died in 1875 at Ischua, Cattaraugus County, New York. The family history describes his descendants as known in 1996. The book also includes the Civil War letters of Corporal Martin Luther Vincent and his brother, Private William Henry Vincent, grandsons of Dr. Michael Vincent. With each Martin Luther Vincent’s letters, additional history describing the situations and locations of his regiment, the 112th Volunteer Illinois Regiment. Photographs of descendants are included.
Since the 1996 publication, considerable additional research has been done for descendants of Dr. Michael Vincent and the allied families that married his children. A recent 2020 publication expands on the families, early settlers of Ischua and Lyndon, Cattaraugus County and Cuba, Allegany County. The publication, available at Lulu.com is in two volumes titled Dr. Michael Vincent and Allied Families: Early Settlers Ischua, Lyndon, and Cuba, New York – A Detailed Compendium of Family History. Corporal Martin Luther Vincent’s Civil War Letters are not included in the recent publication and are presented here as a compliment to the 1996 publication. It has been determined that Dr. Michael Vincent, was the son of Michael Vincent, and grandson of Ambrose Vincent of Columbia County, New York.
