Then the solo violin. A new situation follows, involving the two instruments, reaching a more dramatic climax. At the end, the violin meets the piano under a new light. Like two friends, they are now singing fragments of a melody freely taken from a Madrigal by Gesualdo Da Venosa, “Dolcissima mia vita,/... / ...che brama il mio desire/ O d’amarti o morire. (My sweetest life,/.../ ... what’s my desire longing/ to love you or to die).
