Babbitt

In 1922, Babbitt was a successful businessman doing his best to climb a few rungs up the ladder. When the non-conformist life calls to him he finds that even non-conformity has its set of rules. When he realizes that his home and family are the most important thing to him he regains his old life. Lewis Sinclair claims that Babbitt is everyman, and his town is every town.
