Jasper the Flying Horse

Author, Siobhan Hughes. Siobhan’s family (nee Carroll) originate from Carlingford and Greenore and are still living there today. The book is essentially about a young girl whose dream is to be an International Show jumper and she also has a wish to find her father who is missing in action in Afghanistan. The story takes us to Carlingford and across the Mournes and Antrim, exploring folklores, histories and the people of the Carlingford Lough. Jasper, the magic, flying, talking horse takes her on an adventure through Europe to the war torn country of Afghanistan. Jasper is almost like a father figure teaching El through his stories and their adventures together. They are accompanied on their journey by a small dog who becomes a heroine when her and Holly help El to find her father and hopefully bring him home.
