The boy nodded and opened the door, but seemed to be unable to jump, his hands gripping the side of the car tightly, his eyes closed in fear. The man stopped fumbling with his belt, turned backwards, and, praying for him, pushed the boy out. He had barely managed to turn around again that the car hit the safety railing. The car crashed through it and started plunging down towards the bottom of the mountain. The man felt his body being hurled forward until the safety belt stopped him. Next to him, his wife was screaming. He should have hugged her, kissed her one last time, but all he could do was add his chorus of screams to hers. The car continued falling, while the seatbelt took all the air out of him. Then the ground arrived, and the man felt his body being ripped up and squashed under the weight of gravity. His vision filled with blood. His screams stopped. At the top of the mountain road, a small, unconscious boy dreamed of a terrible explosion.
