This story about Adam and Eve, which starts with the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Paradise is translated from a Ge'ez Ethiopic manuscript and adapted into modern English.
In Book 1, the punished Serpent, Satan, seeks to deceive and kill Adam and Eve, but God protects them. Book 2 deals with the "sons of God" (Gen. 6:2), who are the offspring of Seth and Cain. The women who descend from Cain seduce the sons of Seth and they beget the Nephilim (the "mighty men" from Gen. 6) who are eventually destroyed in the deluge.
Books 3 and 4 continue the narrative with the lives of Noah, Shem, Melchizedek, and others until the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
The source text for this modern translation is: The Book of Adam and Eve, also called the conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan, a book of the early Eastern Church, translated from the Ethiopic, with notes from the Kufale, Talmud, Midrashim, and other Eastern works by Solomon Caesar Malan (1812-1894) London and Edinburgh: Williams and Norgate 1882.
