‘Whimsical Magazine, Tales Of Portraits... Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art, in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Angela Murray is the photographer behind Life Lab Photography. She loves everything about newborns and feels honoured to have the opportunity to capture this fleeting moment to be cherished for many years to come. She was born and raised in the countryside near Taupo and is deeply inspired by nature and its raw beauty, which has greatly influenced her innate style : ‘Growing up, very much a ‘tomboy’ with my 3 brothers, we made our own adventures and spent a lot of time outdoors, that is where my love of nature has derived from. I am a creative soul, learning to sew and knit from an early age with my mum.’ This love of textiles and textures allowed Angela to stock a beautiful range of unique, organic and natural knits for her sessions : ‘I like to bring a sense of mood and richness to my images. I gravitate toward the natural colours seen in my surrounds and work them into creating a unique atmosphere for your newborn.’ Growing up, Angela’s dad was a wedding and family photographer and always printed his work. Hence, much of Angela’s natural flow derives from her dad’s lifestyle influence. She carries that into the posed and styled newborn images, with the use of textures and atmosphere, like a stunning landscape image with its shadows, creases and layers : ‘I bring a sense of mood and richness into my images.
